Cycling up that hill

I Listen
I set myself a goal
To make it up that hill
16% gradient
A task
I made it
The bell tolls ten o'clock
I sat
The tree gave me sanctuary and a place to lean
I listen
Rain drops fall on leaves
Birds sing in unison
A car, cars pass by
A squirrel runs away
The wind brushes the trees all ways
North, south, east, west
The mist engulfs us all
I move
Listening still but concentration fails
Cycling takes my strength, my focus
My heart is beating fast
I think
I've gone far enough
The hill beckons
How wonderful to feel the speed and wind
I brake
It's too fast
Reaching the bottom of the hill
Another slight incline
I push myself
I can do this
I reach home
I feel a sense of achievement
A coffee now
Ah .....
