Intrigue

This is one of the favourite images from this Winter. I was walking in the woods above Wisemans Bridge, there was a misty rain falling and I had the feeling that I wanted to shoot images that obscured my view. I never think about why I do the things I do when I am out with my camera. They are just feelings that come to me. Being out with my camera is a kind of meditation, the same as when I paint or read or do anything creative. I am in the moment. My intuition takes over. I think about nothing. There is just me, my camera and the subject of interest on that day.
When a picture works, it is always a surprise to me. I shoot a film, sometimes when it has been developed there is nothing exciting on it; other times there may be one image, sometimes more than one, that is inspired by the moment and I love when that happens.

Three Films ...

The three films I had been waiting for arrived in the post on Friday.

The first film is a bit grainy, I don't mind that at all but I think my choice of lens was a mistake. Burial Chamber at Pentre Ifan .....

These are St Marcellus Church and some snowdrops.

This 120mm Film had been in my DianaF Camera for some months and I had completely forgotten about it. They didn't work very well but it has motivated me to use the DianaF again because I know I can do better than this.

While I'm Waiting ...

Waiting for the Postman

The postman doesn't call here until the afternoon...I'm excited as I sent three films to be developed last week and I had an email on Monday to tell me that they are on their way...!

Can't wait to see what's on them ... 2 x 35mm and 1 x 120mm colour. The 120mm colour had been in my DianaF for months as I had forgotten it was there. I've been using more of my 35mm in the past year, mainly because the films are less expensive to have developed.

So ... I maybe have another hour or so to wait if they arrive today.

Here's hoping they do.

Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber 3500BC

I was determined to find Pentre Ifan today, I'd totally missed it the last time I drove through the Preseli Hills!

Pentre Ifan is a Burial Chamber almost five and a half thousand years old. It is magnificent example of the Neolithic period. It dates from around 3500BC and looks over the Nevern Valley. The Chamber is surrounded by beautiful views on all sides.

I sat with the Stones for half and hour or so thinking about the strength, tenacity and determination that people of that time must have had to build this 16 Ton structure. A monumental task. It is tremendously impressive how the structure stands tall, balanced precariously, or so it seemed to me. Though I guess as it;s been there for thousands of years, it must be safe!
