Beach Patterns and Faces ...

I walked along the beach yesterday thinking of another photographer I had seen who has spent eight years documenting, in black and white photography, a beach near his home.

This has inspired me to take on a similar project. I quite often see faces in the pebbles, or recognisable shapes in the patterns that adorn the rocks and sand... I like anything that is native to the sea and its surroundings. Shells are a childhood favourite with many, there is the sand that is sometimes white, sometimes yellow, sometimes red. The rocks formed from so many different materials and have unique colouring depending on the area, the sea, the erosion, the origin ... I know little of the science of these things, I'm only guessing really, but all I know is that the coastline is a place of discovery, both scientific and creative.

A random selection of pictures shot on different cameras... digital, 35mm and 120mm film. I have 7 films waiting to be developed so if I can process them, I will have another more recent selection of images from beaches.
